Piotr Gwiazda, English, in London Times Literary Supplement

A review by Piotr Gwiazda, associate professor of English, was featured in the London Times Literary Supplement. In this review, Gwiazda writes about Polish poet Ewa Lipska’s book, “The New Century,” which includes writing from 1999-2007 and documents her enchantment with the world. Of her poems, Gwiazda writes, “[they] are skillfully translated by Robin Davidson and Ewa Elżbieta Nowakowska, are characteristically incisive and playful. They focus on conventional subjects like history and politics, memory and travel, love and mourning, but always with the acknowledgment of what Lipska calls ‘the absurdity of beauty.’”
