Ellen Handler Spitz to Serve as Editor, Writes New Book

Ellen Handler Spitz, Honors College professor of visual arts, will serve as the children’s editor for The New Republic’s online review series, “The Book.” She was invited by the editorial team after publishing in their print pages several times. Her first column will appear in the upcoming weeks. An introduction to “The Book” can be found here.

Spitz has also written a new book, “Illuminating Childhood,” which will be in the fall 2010 publications list of the University of Michigan Press, Ann Arbor. This is the second book she has written since her appointment to the UMBC faculty as an Honors College professor.
