Vice President for Research Geoff Summers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Don Engel as assistant vice president for research. Engel received a B.S. in Mathematics and M.S. in Computer Science Physics from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania. Engel’s responsibilities include assisting faculty to find external funding for their scholarly activities, coordinating UMBC’s internal funding programs and developing closer ties to funding agencies, foundations, corporations and regional and national laboratories.
