Residents of Catonsville waited for word that friends were safe and raised money to help the relief effort after the devastating earthquake and tsunami, according to Catonsville Patch. Included in their story was Constantine Vaporis, professor of history and director of Asian Studies. He said that said he has heard harrowing reports from the friends in Japan he made during the nearly 30 years he studied the country.
The story, “Our Region Responds to Crisis in Japan,” appeared on the Catonsville Patch website March 19.
