UMBC students on WJZ

Egyptian UMBC students Amy Michael, Mina Attia and Anthony Rizkalla spoke with WJZ about the worry they feel for their families in Egypt as protests continue. All of the students have visited Cairo, and some even grew up there.

“It’s just terrifying because they’re very close to it,” said Rizkalla. “Although we spoke to them a couple days ago, anything can happen in a couple days.”

The students say they are grateful to have each other to talk to, and they are also getting support from the local Coptic Orthodox Church community.

The story, “UMBC Students Concerned About Family in Egypt,” ran on February 2. Note: the video embedded in the story does not include the students. That video can be seen here.
