Christine Mallinson, Language, Literacy and Culture, in Visual Thesaurus

Last week, the website Visual Thesaurus published the first part of an interview with Christine Mallinson, assistant professor of language, literacy and culture, and her co-author Anne Charity Hudley, of the College of William and Mary, about their recent book, “Understanding English Language Variation in U.S. Schools.” The second part appeared this week and featured stories and wisdom from the time they spent working with students.

Certain exercises can “give students the confidence to know that it’s not that the words, themselves, have to be intimidating. Sometimes it’s the context in which they’re learned and making learning fun that can really help them succeed,” said Mallinson.

Part two of the interview appeared on the blog January 25 and can be read here.
