In a recent commentary, President Freeman Hrabowski and Provost Elliot Hirshman examine the institutional culture and how changes at UMBC helped increase diversity. “We hope that aspects of the broad framework developed and nurtured at UMBC can serve as a useful guide for other institutions as they make cultural changes to meet the challenges of the world around them,” they wrote.
