Zeynep Tufekci, Sociology, in The Atlantic

Zeynep Tufecki, SociologyZeynep Tufekci, assistant professor of sociology, has published a critique of Evgeny Morozov’s new book, “The Net Delusion,” in The Atlantic. In “Delusions Aside, the Net’s Potential is Real,” Tufekci critically engages with the text, which has been called an important correction to cyber-utopianism. Although she agrees with many of his points, she argues that Morozov’s “dismissiveness of the ways in which the Internet can be part of a challenge to authoritarianism and promote citizen empowerment leaves [his] argument unbalanced and misleading.” Tufekci blogs at technosociology and tweets via @techsoc.
