Nancy Miller, professor of public policy, appeared on NPR on December 9 in “A New Nursing Home Population: The Young,” with Joseph Shapiro. Miller’s interdisciplinary health policy research focuses on disability issues. She studied why young people enter nursing homes and why the percentage of 31- to 64-year-olds in nursing homes has been growing. According to Shapiro, Miller argues, “states lack programs to help these people receive care at home. And when such support exists, it’s hard to find.”
