USM Board of Regents Approves Strategic Plan

From President Freeman Hrabowski

On December 3, the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents voted to approve the USM Strategic Plan 2011-2020. The plan presents USM’s vision for the next decade and the actions System campuses will need to take to continue promoting educational attainment, research discoveries, and economic growth. The USM plan supports several State priorities, including higher education access and success, job creation and innovation.

UMBC’s strategic priorities—student success, infrastructure for research and creative achievement, environment and sustainability and campus safety and security—already align well with the USM Strategic Plan. I have asked Provost Hirshman and Vice President for Administration and Finance Lynne Schaefer to work with other vice presidents, the deans and campus community to continue developing and documenting our activities in these areas.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to UMBC’s progress.
