The U.S. Commission for Civil Rights has appointed UMBC political science professor George R. LaNoue to be a member of the Maryland Civil Rights Advisory Committee. This committee works to identify and seek solutions to the state’s civil rights issues. LaNoue is nationally recognized as an expert on civil rights; his research has focused on education law, civil rights law and public policy. He is a frequent witness in Congressional testimony and has served as a trial expert in more than thirty federal civil rights cases.
