Jeremy Johnson ’12, Sociology, on WJZ

Jeremy Johnson ’12, sociology, served more than a decade in the Navy but couldn’t reconcile the military values of honor and courage with hiding the fact he’s gay. He eventually wrote his commanding officer and was discharged, but he hopes that the military policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” will be repealed so that he can return to service.

Johnson was interviewed on WJZ about the controversial policy and a new survey showing that a majority of troops support allowing homosexuals to serve openly. The story, “Survey: Troops Support Gays in the Military,” appeared November 30 on WJZ.
