The Catonsville Times reviewed UMBC Theatre’s production of Lynn Nottage’s “Las Meninas.” The play tells the tales of glorious gossip at the 17th-century court of King Louis XIV. Predominantly the controversy surrounding the French king’s Spanish-born wife, Queen Marie-Therese, rumored affair with her African dwarf servant, Nabo Sensugali.
Elena Zlotescu’s sparse set design and decadent costume Design are praised. Sean McComas portrayal of King Louis XIV, and Keilyn Durrel Jones’ Nabo Sensugali are hailed as standouts in the student cast.
