Researches at UMBC and other institutions have been given $5 million to study how development affects water quality and supply, and how urban landscapes might influence climate.
“Development puts stress on regional water supplies and aquatic ecosystems, and there are lots of questions about how we can better manage those stresses,” said Claire Welty, director of the Center for Urban Environmental Research and Education.
The article, “UMBC, Partners Get $5 Million Grant for Water Study,” appeared November 11 in the Baltimore Sun.
