Retirement of Physics Professor Robert Reno

Professor of Physics Robert Reno will be retiring at the end of 2010. Bob joined the physics department in 1973 after obtaining his Ph.D. from Brandeis University in 1970 and spending two years at the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST) as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow. He continued his association with NIST after joining UMBC.

In 2007, Bob received the UMBC Presidential Teaching Award in recognition of his many contributions to teaching. Bob took on many university and department service responsibilities. He served on the UMBC Environmental Health and Safety Committee, and was associate chair of the physics department. The physics department is grateful to Bob for his long and distinguished service. We wish him and his wife Gail a happy retirement.

If you would like to join us for the retirement party for Bob Reno on Thursday, November 11, from 3-4:30 p.m. at Flat Tuesdays in the Commons, contact Marsha Scott, administrative assistant, Physics Building, Room 220. Contributions towards a gift are being accepted.
