In an upcoming Chelsea exhibit in New York, Lisa Moren, associate professor of visual arts, presents “Marbleized Paper from the Gulf,” a project that “upcycles” oil spilled from the Deep Water Horizon rig into the fine art of marbleized paper, as part of the show, “Art from Detritus: Recycling,” curated by Vernita Nemec.
The exhibit will include Moren’s essay, “Gluppity Glupp,” and her postcard rack of over 100 paintings, including “Chesapeake Bay Water Watercolors,” in which she created pigments and paintings out of Baltimore waterways.
The opening reception is Saturday, November 20, 4-7 p.m.
