Mary Rivkin, Education, in the Wenatchee World

Studies have shown the importance of children spending time with nature. Mary Rivkin, professor of early childhood education, said that spending time in woods, fields and natural areas can help improve test scores and alleviate stress, among other benefits. But when given the choice, many children would say the prefer to be indoors, in front of a screen, she said.

The article, “Methow Valley Playground Goes the Natural Way,” appeared September 16 in the Wenatchee World.
