In the wake of the Hopkins Hospital shooting, physicians reflected on the relationship between patients and their family members, especially when making difficult choices. Bill Thomas, professor of practice in the Erickson School, shared how he learned to allow family feedback to help make critical decisions. “I was giving advice without knowing the person,” he said. “That was me thinking about neurology and not thinking about the man.”
