As part of Welcome Week, students took one-hour bus tours of Catonsville and Arbutus to learn about off-campus shopping, dining and recreation. Sponsored by UMBC and led by Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce President George Brookhart and Arbutus Business and Professional Association President Terry Nolan, the tour was part of an effort to bring the university and its surrounding communities closer together.
“The community of Arbutus has never really benefited economically from this school,” Nolan said. “(The ABPA) set out to change that.”
The article, “UMBC students learn what Catonsville and Arbutus have to offer,” ran September 1 in the Arbutus Times.
