Steve Luxenberg: “Lost in the Unknown: Family Secrets and Their Consequences” (9/15)

Steve Luxenberg, author of “Annie’s Ghosts: A Journey Into a Family Secret” and associate editor of the Washington Post, will discuss his book on the seventh floor of the Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery on Wednesday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Part memoir, part detective story, part history, “Annie’s Ghosts” tells a remarkable story. Two sisters, born two years apart to immigrant parents, grow up in Depression-era Detroit. One—Beth, Steve Luxenberg’s mother—escaped eight years of low-paying jobs and her family’s walk-up apartment by marrying and moving away from the neighborhood that she equates with broken promises and broken lives. The other sister? She was his mother’s secret.

Admission is free. Sponsored by the Dresher Center for the Humanities and The Retriever Weekly. For more information, please call ext. 5-6798.
