We have just been informed that for the second year in a row, UMBC has been named the top “Up-and-Coming” national university according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2011 Best Colleges Guide.
The list, released today, includes universities that “have recently made the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus, or facilities.” Also on this year’s list are Arizona State, Drexel, Clemson, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Emory, Rice and the University of California, San Diego, among others.
Also for the second year in a row, UMBC is on a short list of the top national universities “where the faculty has an unusual commitment to undergraduate teaching.” Some others on the list include Dartmouth, Princeton, Brown, the University of California-Berkeley, Stanford and Yale.
Needless to say, we are extremely proud to be recognized for our commitment to our students and to be seen as a national leader in higher education. Thanks to everyone for all that you do to make UMBC such a special place.
