The UMBC Baja team competed against 104 teams from around the world in UMBC’s first West race. With a previous 6th place finish in the recent South Carolina race, the team went into the event with high expectations. The team ended up giving an excellent presentation and placed 17th in Sales Presentation, a promising start. While the team placed 5th in Design Finals, the team earned a 2nd place overall in Design. Additionally, the team earned 1st place in Sales.
During the actual race, UMBC put up a strong fight finishing 37th. Overall, this gave the team a score of 8th place.
“The team is excited to bring their new car to the last race of the season in Rochester, New York on June 10 and hopes to continue what has been the best season in UMBC Baja history,” said Steve Storck, team member.
