History Day Held at UMBC in CityBizList

Innovation in history was discussed at this year’s state History Day competition, directed by the Maryland Humanities Council and held at UMBC on Saturday, April 24. Students had the opportunity to meet and compete with more than 500 of the state’s young history scholars in an exploration of a historical subject of their choice. Participants in History Day underwent a year-long process of intensive research and competitions at the county level. Students conduct research at libraries, museums and historic sites, and through oral history interviews and present their findings in one of five categories: papers, performances, documentaries, exhibits and websites.

An article covering the event, “Baltimore City Students And Teacher Awards Win At 2010 Maryland History Day,” ran in Baltimore’s CityBizList.
