Selection of Women’s Center Director

From: Diane Lee, Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mollie Monahan-Kreishman who will begin serving as the director of the Women’s Center on June 1. The Women’s Center seeks to enhance the UMBC community through a focus on gender issues and the life experiences of women in higher education. The center provides resources and programming that highlights the common needs and experiences, while also actively supporting individuals, groups, offices and departments with a wide spectrum of unique needs and interests.

Monahan-Kreishman is very well prepared to assume directorship of the Women’s Center. She brings extensive experience working in higher education, ranging from student affairs to residential life, along with a strong background in program development and implementation, balanced with individual student support services. She currently serves as the sexual assault prevention coordinator for fraternity and sorority life at the University of Maryland, College Park. In that capacity, Monahan-Kreishman developed and taught an innovative peer-anti-violence advocacy curriculum. She is also working toward a Ph.D. in the College Student Personnel Program in the Department of Counseling and Personnel Services at College Park, with her dissertation on the phenomenology of sexual assaults in college.

Join me in extending a warm welcome to Monahan-Kreishman.
