Helene Cooper: Reading and Signing (4/21)

Journalist Helene Cooper fled her home country of Liberia as a young woman when civil war erupted in 1980. On Wednesday, April 21, 7 p.m., in the Albin O. Kuhn Library, she will read excerpts from her memoir, “The House at Sugar Beach: In Search of a Lost African Childhood,” and discuss the experience of growing up in Liberia. She will also share her insights about the Obama administration from her lens as The New York Times White House correspondent.

This event is part of the Humanities Forum and is sponsored by the Dresher Center for the Humanities with support from the Department of English.

Note: This event was rescheduled from its former March 24 date.

Wow that’s amazing. I can’t imagine that sort of life.

    Hi Helene,
What a fantastically engaging book. I’ve visited several countries in Africa, but never Liberia. I’m currently visiting D.C. and would love to attend your talk later this month, but, unfortunately will be back home. Please email me if I can meet with you this week.

  3. That’s yet another example of how we should appreciate and value our lives in the U.S. and fight any government or leader that tries to take over our lives.
