Campus Advocacy Needed to Prevent Cuts to Proposed Higher Education Budget

House Minority Leader Anthony O’Donnell has advanced a bill that proposes to reduce USM funding by $50 million through a combination of position cuts, out-of-state travel elimination and reduction of tuition remission benefits. While this is currently only a proposal that is being considered, it is important to proactively let our legislators know that any of these approaches would have a very negative effect on student success and retention and recruitment of staff and faculty.
