The Office of Off-Campus Student Services (OCSS) is proud to announce the start of Vets 2 Vets, a UMBC program that offers social networking opportunities, special events, workshops and mentors to support students during the transition from military service to higher education.
Some benefits of the program:
- A veterans information desk staffed by students and veteran mentors (biweekly on Thursday evenings and by appointment)
- Student referral line designed especially for veterans, including the latest information about campus services and community resources
- Program coordinates with area VetCenter in Maryland, which offers readjustment counseling service to veterans and their family members.
The kickoff event for Vets 2 Vets will be a Welcome Back Veterans Reception on Thursday, February 4, 4-6 p.m., in the University Center, 1st Floor Lobby.
“Our military students and veterans not only talk about their service, but these students bring exceptional organizational and team development to the table,” said Ramona Arthur, director of OCSS. “They bring a level of expertise and discipline that makes them leaders in class and in the community.”
For additional information, contact Arthur at ext 5-3619 or e-mail vets2vets@lists.umbc.edu.
NOTE: Vets 2 Vets is an outgrowth of the Veterans on Campus Taskforce, a cross-campus collaboration formed to address veterans’ concerns and support their social transition and academic success at UMBC.

Cool! I’m surprised the LGBT hasn’t protested this event yet hahah
