UMBC Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi

The University of Maryland chapter of the national Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi was established in 1920 and since then it has encompassed the five institutions that formerly comprised the University of Maryland. In the spring of 2009, the Chapter’s Executive Committee decided that it would be in the best interests of current members and future student members to reorganize and establish separate chapters for the constituent institutions. The University of Maryland, Baltimore, and UMBC are joining together to form a single chapter which will be known as Chapter 22, University of Maryland, Baltimore Campuses.

Individuals who are active (i.e. dues-paying) members of Phi Kappa Phi are eligible to become charter members of the new chapter. These individuals must make a commitment to be active in the new chapter by attending meetings, serving on committees and otherwise contributing to the Chapter’s mission.

Faculty and staff members who are interested in becoming charter members of Chapter 22 should contact Marilyn Demorest, vice provost for faculty affairs, at ext. 5-3150 or demorest@umbc.edu for further information. Inquiries received by Monday, November 23, will receive first consideration.

  2. Marilyn,

I’d like to be included as a charter member as well.
