Volunteers Needed for Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies

It’s that time of year – Winter Commencement is right around the corner! Note that for the first time UMBC will have two December ceremonies so that the graduates and guests will have a more memorable event.

The Graduate School ceremony is Tuesday, December 22, and the Undergraduate ceremony is on Wednesday, December 23. Both ceremonies will be at 10 a.m. in the RAC. We are looking for volunteers for both days, from 8 a.m. until the end of the ceremony (about noon).

To make the selection easier for you, the Office of Institutional Advancement has again collaborated with the Office of Information Technology to develop a volunteer registration Web site for these ceremonies. Just click here and complete the information. You will see a brief description of the jobs available and the number of staff needed. Many of you like particular jobs, so sign up now before they are filled. You will receive a confirmation e-mail after you submit your selection(s).

Volunteer trainings for both ceremonies will take place on Monday, December 21, in the Retriever Activities Center.  Undergraduate training will be at 1 p.m. and Graduate School training will be at 2 p.m.

We really need your help this year and are asking you to join us for one or both of these wonderful events! If you have questions regarding the Undergraduate ceremony, contact Laura Arnwine at lmarnwine@umbc.edu or ext. 5-5897. For questions regarding the Graduate School ceremony, contact Lisa Portis Morgan at limorgan@umbc.edu or ext. 5-8142.

Thank you!
