The National Institutes of Health grants were distributed in recent weeks to more than 12,000 projects around the country. These grants are funded under the $787 billion federal stimulus program that Obama signed into law in February. “About $100 billion in stimulus money is to go to science and technology projects,” according to the administration. UMBC was included on a list of Maryland schools and facilities receiving grants through stimulus funding. The school has received 13 grants from the NIH.
