Erle Ellis, Geography and Environmental Systems, in Washington Post

To say that climate change existed during the time of the pyramids might sound odd. But Erle Ellis, associate professor of geography and environmental systems, and his colleague William Ruddiman, professor emeritus at the University of Virginia – this statement is not odd at all. Ellis and Ruddiman are suggesting that people started altering the climate thousands of years ago. “The early farmers did not…change the actual climate," said Ellis. "They kept the climate from changing."

The article, “Climate Change Study Cites Role of Ancient Farming,” ran September 26 in the Washington Post.
