Undergraduate Students, Lisa Akchin in the Catonsville Times

More than 50 students piled on a campus bus on August 29 to see Arbutus and Catonsville, a tour set up for new arrivals to learn about the towns that border UMBC. "We didn’t expect this much turnout," said Lisa Akchin, assistant to UMBC President Freeman Hrabowski, who was riding along. “It’s exciting.” Terry Nolan, president of the Arbutus Business and Professional Association, and George Brookhart, president of the Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, served as tour guides for the trip and pointed out areas of interest.

The article, “Bus tour an education for new UMBC students,” ran in the Catonsville Times Wednesday, September 2.
