In an opinion editorial, Provost Elliot Hirshman recounts his first year as provost, congratulates outstanding scholars and addresses the importance of Maryland institutions. “If you happen to hear ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ or see a young person in cap and gown, take a moment and contemplate this: Maryland is home to one of the finest public higher education systems in the nation, thanks to you and the strong support of Gov.
