Janis Vasquenza ‘94 was featured in a story about nurse practitioners in the Frederick News-Post. Finding nurse educators is difficult as teaching salaries are lower, and there is a shortage of nurses with master’s degrees, the minimum level needed to teach. However, Vasquenza is an example of a graduate who went on to receive her’ master’s degree with the goal of returning to teach. When her children entered high school, she went back to school and gave herself a strict timeline. “I needed to be out of college before the boys got to college,” she said with a laugh. “We couldn’t all do it at the same time.”

The article, “FCC celebrates 40 years of nursing excellence,” ran Tuesday, October 27, in the Frederick News-Post.
